In Car Camera
How In Car Video Systems Fail Police Officers.
The widespread adoption of in car video systems is a testament to the value of video footage in daily police work. But as the diagram above shows, the dash camera is only able to capture about 10% of the area. If a situation were to occur near the car, only having access to 10% of the story is detrimental to the safety of an officer. TASER has introduced the AXON on officer video system to combat this weakness in police video
In addition to providing a more complete view of the situation, the video is shot from the officers point of view. In car camera systems can sometimes be detrimental to officers as they show a different viewpoint of a situation or miss it entirely.
