The Pulse Calibration System constantly optimizes the device to deliver the precise amount of electric charge needed to cause optimal incapacitation while enhancing safety. This continuous monitoring and adjustment of electrical output yields a Precision Shaped Pulse that provides more consistent effects on the target and a margin of safety up to 40% greater than previous ECD technology.

Wake Forest University Study
In 1,201 cases 99.75% people subjected to a TASER ECD had no significant injuries

Extensively Studied
Currently there are more than 250 major medical and scientific studies, abstracts, and reports on TASER ECD Safety

Features

Neuro Muscular Incapacitation (NMI)
The key technology to disable even the most aggressive subjects, NMI temporarily overrides the command and control systems of the body to impair muscular control.

Shaped Pulse™ Technology
A sophisticated pulse wave that utilizes a high voltage leading edge to penetrate barriers such as clothing around the body followed by a lower voltage stimulation pulse to cause Neuro Muscular Incapacitation.

Rotational-Pulse™ Drive
The Rotational-Pulse Drive in the TASER® X3™ ECD delivers patented Shaped Pulse™ discharges sequentially to multiple electrode sets, rotating the pulses across multiple cartridge bays at a rate of up to 45 times per second. This alternation of pulsed output across multiple cartridges allows a single X3 to incapacitate up to three subjects simultaneously with the same effectiveness as three separate TASER® X26™ ECDs. The Rotational-Pulse Drive also supports cross-connection, or the X-Connect™ capability, so that a combination of top and bottom probes from any of the active firing bays can form an effective NMI circuit, improving effectiveness and the likelihood of incapacitation.

Precision Shaped Pulse™ Pulse Calibration System
The Pulse Calibration System constantly optimizes the output of the Rotational-Pulse Drive to deliver the precise amount of electric charge needed to cause optimal incapacitation while enhancing safety. This continuous monitoring and adjustment of electrical output yields a Precision Shaped Pulse that provides more consistent effects on the target and a margin of safety up to 40% greater than previous ECD technology. In addition to recording calibration data, the system can provide the operator a real-time visual icon on the color display to indicate whether the system is maintaining electrical connection to the target with easy to identify visual green / yellow / red icons.

Independent Fire Control System
A low voltage system that initiates cartridge launch independent of the NMI discharge. The Independent Fire Control System enables the controlled deployment of multiple cartridges. It also enables the user to display a spectacular array of electric arcs to deter or warn subjects – all while the X3 remains fully loaded with live cartridges.

Range Adjusted Dual Laser Sight (RADLS)
Top Laser
Standard Range Laser: The Standard Range Laser has a 7-degree separation between the bottom laser and the top laser. This bottom laser is automatically selected for cartridges with 25 feet or 15 feet range.
Long Range Laser: The Long Range Laser system has a 3-degree downward trajectory. This bottom laser is automatically selected for 35 foot cartridges.

Trilogy™ Log
The Trilogy Log system inside the X3 ECD records information from a variety of sensors into three data logs: the Event Log™, Pulse Log™, and Engineering Log™.
a. The Event Log record includes every user input such as Safety on/off, Trigger presses, ARC Switch presses, firmware updates, and time changes.
b. The Pulse Log record stores the electric characteristics of every pulse emitted from the X3.
c. The Engineering Log record monitors the performance of every key sub-system within the X3 and provides alerts to the user if any subsystems are not performing properly and if maintenance is advisable.

EVIDENCE.COM Support
The X3 ECD is the first truly network capable handheld weapon. The rich data set from the Trilogy Log is uploaded securely to EVIDENCE.COM services, where the information is encrypted, stored securely, and organized into dashboards that allow your agency to easily monitor the usage and system status of your entire fleet of X3 ECDs.

Smart Cartridge
The new Smart™ Cartridge communicates with the Fire Control System within the X3 ECD, indicating the type of cartridge loaded in each bay and its deployment status. The Smart Cartridge contains the nitrogen propulsion system, probes, TASER wire, and Anti-Felon Identification (AFID) tags sealed behind a rugged, weatherproof blast door. The new static resistant propulsion system allows the X3 ECD to display NMI arcs without firing the cartridge – which also reduces the risk of accidental static discharge misfires.

Color Graphical User Interface Central Information Display (CID)
The X3 ECD has a full color screen CID and internationally recognizable color icons and multilingual menu support to show the types of cartridges loaded, whether they have been deployed, battery status, burst count down, total burst time, and more.

Charge Diffusion™ Probes
The X3 probes that connect the TASER wire to the subject are optimized to preferentially deliver the NMI pulses to the surface of the body rather than through the tip of the probe when fully inserted into the body. This provides enhanced safety margins when the probes are fully inserted near the heart, channeling electric charge toward the surface of the body and away from the internal organs.
