Get the FACTS about TASER

MTYH

"I’m not comfortable with firearms. Isn’t TASER C2 a firearm? "

FACT

TASER Electronic Control Devices (ECDs) are not considered firearms by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATF) because the TASER cartridge uses compressed, inert nitrogen gas to launch the probes instead of gun powder.

MTYH

"Isn’t it illegal to carry a TASER ECD?"

FACT

It is legal to own a TASER C2 ECD in the U.S. except in HI, MA, MI, NJ, NY, RI, WI, and the District of Columbia. Other states might have limited restrictions on the use or possession of ECDs.

MTYH

"So is the TASER C2 less powerful than ones police use?"

FACT

The TASER C2 uses the same exact technology and offers the same stopping power as our police version. There are only two notable differences:

1. The cycle time - TASER C2 relays the charge for 30 seconds compared to a 5 seconds with the police version. This is so you can keep your attacker down and get yourself to safety!

2. The range of the TASER C2 is up to 15 feet.

MTYH

"So if I have to leave my C2 behind, I then have to buy a brand new replacement?"

FACT

TASER C2 has a Lifetime Replacement Guarantee*. If you ever have to use your C2 to defend yourself and must leave it behind, TASER International will replace it free of charge once you’ve sent us a police report of the incident. No question - your life is worth more to us than the cost of a C2!

*Applies only to incidents that occur in the United States

MTYH

"Isn’t the TASER C2 just a stun gun?"

FACT

TASER C2 is far more powerful than a traditional stun gun. First, it can incapacitate an attacker from up to 15 feet away while a stun gun requires direct contact with the threat. This gives you a zone of protection other self-defense options cannot offer. Second, unlike stun guns, TASER technology does not rely on pain compliance localized to the point of contact; rather it affects the sensory and motor functions of the nervous system and inhibits muscular control. This keeps an attacker down and immobilized for 30 seconds not just "stunned" for as long as you maintain contact. However, TASER C2 can also be used as a stun device if necessary.

MTYH

"Is the TASER C2 too complicated to quickly use to defend myself?"

FACT

It’s as simple as point and shoot. TASER C2 was designed to provide you an option that is effective yet easy to use and accessible. The safety cover is simple to operate but ensures the ECD is not accidentally fired. The laser sight lets you aim accurately and feel confident you will make contact with an assailant. The trigger is a simple push-button mechanism that allows you to fire, drop the C2, and run while keeping the attacker down.

MTYH

"Do I have to carry the TASER C2 in a holster or custom case like the police do?"

FACT

TASER C2 was designed with your lifestyle in mind. At approximately 6 inches long and weighing about 7 ounces, it is compact, lightweight, and discreet enough to be carried in a hand bag, backpack, or just about anywhere.

MTYH

"Is pepper spray a safer option?"

FACT

Pepper spray can be an effective self-defense option, but it also carries some risks. First, environmental conditions like wind could cause the spray to blow back at your rather than towards an attacker. Second, assailants must be in fairly close range for pepper spray to be effective, increasing chances that they will reach you and/or take the canister from you. Third, pepper spray effectiveness rates vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Fourth, pepper spray loses its effectiveness over time and often does not affect attackers under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. TASER is the most effective option, period. It uses no dangerous chemicals and consistently delivers an incapacitating charge to keep you safe and protected.
