  I immediately respected what the Taser could and would-not do

  I am a 53 year old Reserve Law Enforcement officer who has been serving my communities for over 30 years. 5 years ago I was trained and issued my x26. I deem myself in pretty good shape for 53 and not only work out but run regularly. I was chosen to represent our department in a recent "cuff'd" show on MTV and was even "spoofed" by Beevis and Butthead. I am an Police Academy Instructor as well and have always instructed my students in the use of your available tools and equipment. I stress not only our 5 levels of force but knowing when and when-not to use them. When I received my CEW (Taser) training from our department I was given the option of being tased (or as they used to call it "riding the bull"). I felt this was a valuable training experience and chose to do so. I immediately respected what the Taser could and would-not do. For weeks I knew exactly where the clips were placed on my body.
  
  Running out of options: Soon after being issued my Taser while working patrol I stopped a 4 wheeler riding down the middle of a street. This is not uncommon but the operator was not only abrasive but would not divulge any information. He kept planing away from me and I knew something was up. He was under the influence of methamphetamine's and was "tweaking". I quickly handcuffed him finding a loaded 9mm pistol tucked behind his pants. All of our jaws dropped. He said he was carrying the pistol so no one would rip off his drugs. We transported him to our holding cell at the station and a short time later I heard banging coming from the door of the cell. I opened the cell door and found that the subject had forcefully removed his cuffs from his hand and was bleeding from the wrists. He was slamming his fists onto the door. He immediately attacked me with one cuff dangling from his wrist. Needless to say the fight was on. I used all of my training and experience and attempted to not only strike and subdue the subject but open and hard hand controls were not working. He was all of 120 pounds and me at 220 was loosing the battle. I literally forced him to the ground several times and each time...up he came. I was running out of options and out of steam.....then I remembered my CEW (Taser X26). I pulled the taser announced that he was going to be tased and let the probes fly. He immediately ceased this fight and laid on the ground crying for his mother. This piece of equipment saved him from further force and me, a 53 year old grandfather of 16 from getting seriously injured or using our 5 level of force, deadly.
  
  Long story short my review is positive and I continue to protect the citizens of my county, with your help.

  This is an excellent Taser, the M26C. It has the force to intimidate the most violent offender, as experienced in the past. I feel very safe when I carry this fine piece of equipment on my belt!

  They are fine people to deal with and truly concerned about your safety

  After receiving my Taser, I just put it in my car without using it. Finally one day I read the material that came with the unit and found I needed to learn to use the item properly. Upon my first trial, the trigger was found to be excessively hard to pull. It was now out of warranty, however, I wrote Taser of my problem and stated it was out of warranty but had never been fired with the cartridges. They told me they would stand behind the unit and to send it in and they would either cure the problem or replace the entire gun. They did as they said they would and now it works great! Being out of warranty I never expected this of a company. They are fine people to deal with and truly concerned about your safety.

Lifetime Replacement Guarantee

When an X26C, M26C, or C2 CEW is used in self-defense, the CEWs may be deployed and left behind providing the Purchaser a window of opportunity to get to safety and call law enforcement. TASER International will replace the TASER X26C, M26C, or C2 CEW free of charge, with the same product or a like product, at TASER International’s option, if the Purchaser provides, within one year following the event, the following information to TASER International, 17800 North 85th Street, Scottsdale, Arizona 85255 Attn: Customer Service:

• a copy of the official police report documenting the incident, the use of the product in self-defense, and the loss of the product;
• proof of purchase of the product (receipt, purchase order, or invoice); <
• check or a credit authorization for the shipping and handling fees; and
• Purchaser’s name, physical address (no P.O. Boxes allowed), and phone number of where to send the replaced item.

Purchaser is responsible for any expedited shipping or handling costs for the replacement CEW. A replacement product assumes the remaining warranty of the original product or 90-days from the date of replacement, whichever provides longer coverage to the Purchaser.

TASER International’s Lifetime Replacement Guarantee is not available or applicable: (a) on any international (Non-United States) sales or uses of TASER Citizen Products; or (b) to any Purchaser who uses the CEW for a commercial purpose.
