Announcing New Maternity/Paternity Leave Policy
TASER International has always taken great strides to be at the forefront of an ever-changing landscape in public safety technology. Our TASER devices exposed a significant deficit in the efficacy of existing non-lethal force options and over the past two decades were adopted by more than 18,000 agencies. Our body-worn cameras lead all others in adoption by major cities and are helping to revolutionize the way the world conducts police work. To say that we are forward-thinking would be an understatement.
Being forward-thinking, however, can be a double edged sword. We run the risk of thinking far into the future for everyone but ourselves. At TASER, we do our best to avoid this pitfall. What good is asking how we’d like to shape society if we can’t sustain the same inquiry aimed at what type of business we’d like to grow into? After all, we know that right at this very moment we have an amazing team assembled, comprised of smart, passionate, and engaged individuals who come to work every day with the knowledge that they can make a difference in the world.
So what kind of business would we like to grow into? The kind that gives as much as its gets. That’s why, to the twin ends of preserving the culture we’ve worked so hard to develop and giving our employees the freedom and flexibility to live the lives they envision for themselves, we are today taking a huge step forward as a company and making some improvements to our family leave program.
Below are some highlights of the program, effective today, September 3, 2015:
- Birth mothers can take up to 20 weeks paid leave, and non-birth parents including paternity, adoptions and/or foster care can take up to 10 weeks paid time off.
- Benefits immediately available to all full-time employees across TASER.
Our employees have always supported TASER in its mission, and we want to show our employees the same level of support. This announcement comes on the heels of our implementation of an unlimited paid time off policy earlier this year, and represents a marked increase in the length and flexibility of our maternity and paternity leave programs.
At TASER the work we do matters, and so does the team that makes that work possible. What better way to show it than by helping everyone to craft the family and career and that works for them?
